The Alpax SW 3.0 is a spinning reel for sea fishing which has proven itself many times over. Offered for two generations, it has established itself as a reference in the range of affordable and reliable sea reels. The SW (Salt Water) version integrates all the necessary improvements to withstand the assaults of the marine environment: corrosion, humidity, intense fighting - the Alpax SW is designed to never falter.
The frame, the rotor and the spool are entirely made of double-anodised anti-corrosion aluminium, a proven solution for sea fishing. Regarding transmission, the RFO (Rotary Flat Oscillation) gear system ensures even distribution of line on the spool and smooth power increase during fighting.
The waterproof multi-disc brake with carbon washers is one of the strong points of this reel: progressive, powerful (up to 10 kg of power), it absorbs without flinching the violent rushes of fish. Replacement carbon washers are provided as standard - a detail that counts in the field.
The 8508 size is a more muscular version intended for mid-to-heavy fishing, whether coastal or exotic. It benefits from a reinforced axle (+30% power), a reinforced pick-up roller, and a system of infinite and permanent anti-reverse - absolute safety when a tuna or a jack takes off like a rocket. The bail arm and pick-up roller are made of ATL Titanium (anti-twist), which limits line breakage and preserves your rig under extreme tension.
They have been successfully tested under demanding fishing conditions:
- Indian Ocean: fights against Skipjack tunas from 4 to 6 kg, Snappers and even a Sailfish of about 40 lbs - a fish known for its jumps and lightning-fast accelerations.
- Mexico: regular sessions chasing Roosterfish, bonitos and jacks, species known for their power and endurance.
