For more than twenty years, the Saltiga range from Daiwa has established itself as the absolute benchmark for spinning reels dedicated to heavy sea fishing. The Saltiga 25 continues this tradition of excellence by reaching a new technological milestone. Designed without compromising on power and robustness, it is built to face the most extreme conditions and tackle the world's biggest fish.
The major novelty of this generation is the integration of the exclusive POWERDRIVE DESIGN technology, a completely rethought architecture around a single objective: maximizing retrieval power while ensuring an unbeatable durability.
The POWERDRIVE ENGINE, housed at the heart of the monocoque aluminum frame, includes two major innovations:
The POWERDRIVE ROTOR, positioned at the front, completes the setup by harmonizing the transfer of force. Its unique spherical shape improves rigidity by 7% and helps reinforce the overall strength and durability of the reel. This new aluminum rotor also provides better balance during intense retrieval.
The new pick-up arm of the Saltiga 25 has been completely redesigned to meet the requirements of jigging. The roller, subjected to very high stress, is now wider and re-axled in a sleeve part which improves its support. The optimized opening and closing angles make the unexpected closure of the pick-up almost impossible — a crucial point during intense fights. Roller exit frictions are reduced by about 3%, ensuring optimal management of the braid and a perfectly homogeneous line tension.
The Saltiga 25 is equipped with the new generation ATD brake system on sizes 8000 to 14,000, with reliable and resistant carbon WASHER washers. On sizes 18,000 to 25,000, Daiwa introduces the DRD technology (Daiwa Roll Drive), designed specifically for fishing large specimens. Its roller pads allow immediate engagement on large pulls, reduce friction between discs and significantly improve progressivity. The brake resists 5 times more than conventional systems, and its adjustment remains constant throughout the fight. A decisive advantage against exceptional opponents.
In 2026, Daiwa breaks a new frontier with the introduction of the Saltiga 25 size 30,000, the largest size ever designed by the brand. For anglers who push the limits of the possible, this XXL reel opens up unprecedented prospects for big pelagic fish and the most demanding fishing techniques.
Technical specifications:
Choose this reel for boat sea fishing — trolling, heavy jigging, throwing heavy lures and chumming — against powerful and pelagic species such as tuna, amberjack, meager and large local coelacanths. Look for a setup with an appropriate rod and a progressively set brake to fully exploit the progressivity of the Saltiga 2025 in the first meters of escape.
