The Shimano Tyrnos is designed for anglers looking for a fast, robust round-profile multiplier reel built for hard-fought battles in saltwater. Its lever-drag design gives you an immediate sense of control during the fight, while still offering surprisingly fast retrieval on the larger sizes.
The Tyrnos and Tyrnos II feature extra-large gears and an extended handle to generate more torque. The result is a firm, consistent and effective retrieve, even when the pressure is on. On the 2-speed models, the transition is seamless thanks to gears that remain constantly engaged, delivering enormous winding power for the most demanding winching stages.
Built to withstand the harsh conditions offshore, this reel features a rigid aluminium frame, complemented by 4 A-RB (anti-rust) bearings and extra-large stainless-steel gears. The aluminium handle, paired with an oversized rubber grip, improves hold and comfort during prolonged battles. The drag inspires confidence, with an ultra-loud drag clicker and a ratchet lever that clicks reassuringly into place when set.
An additional adjustment knob lets you fine-tune the preset strike or maximum drag during the fight. This is a real advantage when precision matters, especially when fishing with heavy tackle at sea. The larger 2-speed models are ideal for very large fish in the deep ocean, while the smaller single-speed versions are also well suited to jigging, lighter bottom fishing or trolling for large specimens in freshwater.
With its high line capacity and robust design, the Shimano Tyrnos is a serious choice for anglers seeking a reliable, powerful reel built for long sessions in demanding conditions.
