The Shimano Tyrnos II is designed for anglers looking for plenty of power in reserve, speed and real confidence when the pressure is on. This lever-drag multiplier reel is built to handle demanding fishing, with a sturdy design and a very direct feel on the retrieve.
The Tyrnos and Tyrnos II models are among the fastest lever-drag multiplier reels from Shimano. Their oversized gears and extended handle length help generate more torque, delivering a powerful, steady retrieve even when a fish keeps fighting deep down. On the larger two-speed (II) models, versatility is a real advantage: in high gear, the retrieve can reach 115 cm per handle turn, while switching to low gear lets you bring the fish in with complete control.
Designed for saltwater, the Tyrnos is built on a solid aluminium frame and features 4 A-RB (anti-rust) bearings, oversized stainless-steel gears, an aluminium handle with an oversized rubber grip, and enormous drag power. The ultra-loud drag clicker provides clear, reassuring feedback when you’re in the thick of the action, while the ratchet lever engages positively. An additional adjustment knob lets you fine-tune the preset tension for the strike or the maximum drag during a fight, giving you precise control for every situation.
This reel really comes into its own when deep-sea fishing for very large fish, but it’s also well suited to jigging, lighter bottom fishing or trolling for large freshwater specimens with the smaller single-speed models. Its capacity to hold huge amounts of line, whether monofilament or braid, makes it a serious choice for anglers who want a reliable, hard-wearing reel when every detail matters.
