The Calamaretti, from the prestigious brand Graphiteleader, is a high-end rod eging made in Japan that embodies all the Japanese know-how in technical fishing rods. Ultra-light blank in high modulus carbon, exclusive Quattro Graphite Cloth XX and G-MAPS technologies, titanium frame guides with Torzite rings, sensitive VSS reel seat: each component has been selected to offer squid fishermen a tool of rare precision and sensitivity. Available in 2.39 m (88 g) and 2.64 m (102 g), the 20 Calamaretti sets itself as the eging reference for demanding fishermen.
The heart of the Calamaretti is its Japanese high modulus carbon blank, developed using two proprietary OLYMPIC technologies that define its exceptional mechanical qualities.
The Quattro Graphite Cloth XX technology consists of a multi-directional weaving of carbon fibers that strengthens the blank structure on four axes simultaneously. This architecture eliminates areas of torsional weakness, improves vibration transmission to the hand, and guarantees high breakage resistance, even during sharp hooksets on strong spirits or sustained fights against a large cuttlefish.
The G-MAPS (Graphiteleader Multi-Angle Pattern Structure) technology refines the blank behavior by optimizing the orientation of the fibers according to the stressed zones. The result is a perfectly mastered action progression: tip flexibility to absorb disconnections, blank mid-reactivity for precise animations, and reserve power at the heel for sharp hooksets and effective bottom recoveries.
The Medium / Regular-Fast action of the 20 Calamaretti is particularly suited to modern eging techniques. This progressiveness allows you to:
The assembly of the rings of the Calamaretti reflects the demanding level of the Graphiteleader series. The titanium frames are both ultra-light and of remarkable rigidity, resistant to saltwater corrosion for intensive use at sea. The Torzite rings, resulting from Fuji technology, are the most performant guide rings on the market: their extremely smooth surface significantly reduces the friction of the braid PE line, resulting in casting distance gains and better vibration transmission.
For eging with ultra-fine PE 0.6 to 1.0 braids, this titanium-Torzite combination is crucial: less resistance on the braid means more direct animations, better touch reading, and reduced line fatigue in the long run.
The VSS reel seat (Variable Screw System) light and sensitive with uplock was chosen for its vibration transmission qualities. Unlike standard reel seats that absorb part of the information coming up from the bottom, the sensitive VSS transmits to the angler every contact of the egi with the substrate, every hesitation of the descent, every attempted attack of a squid. This fine reading of the bottom is essential to adjust the animation rhythm and maximize touches during difficult sessions.
The EVA grip (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) offers an optimal compromise between lightness, grip comfort, and resistance to marine corrosion. EVA does not degrade with repeated contact with saltwater, dries quickly, and maintains its non-slip texture even when wet. For night jetty sessions or long boat outings, this material guarantees a firm hold, whatever the weather.
