The spinning rod Evergreen Artisan Mountain Stream 5'2 is designed for anglers seeking a fine, precise and controlled feel on the most technical waters. Developed by Daisuke Yamagishi for 7 to 8-metre-wide “village rivers” (satogawa) and headwaters nestled deep in mountain valleys, it is ideally suited to narrow environments where lure control makes all the difference.
This spinning model from the Yamagishi school was designed to excel at working sinking minnow lures, with a clear focus on twitching. The tip combines 24-tonne, low-to-medium-elasticity carbon with a high resin content and fibreglass. The result is a very progressive bend, ideal for the short casts that load only the tip and are so common on narrow streams. This brings greater accuracy, more comfortable lure action and improved control in tight spots.
The mid-section and butt feature 33-tonne carbon treated with Nano Alloy® technology, applied to high-strength, high-modulus Toyou Treika® T1100G carbon fibres, and combined with 40-tonne carbon of an even higher modulus. This construction creates a slim, streamlined blank with crisp stiffness and lightness, making the rod feel lively and responsive in the hand. Under load, it can then bend and follow the fish, helping to reduce hook pulls while retaining valuable power reserves for bringing in larger fish.
The unpainted and unsanded (unaninsed) finish across the entire blank, except for the areas around the logo, highlights the blank’s raw character and lets you feel every nuance of the carbon work. On the water, this rod truly comes into its own on mountain rivers, in narrow stretches and moderate to fast currents, and in the spots where a sinking minnow must be worked with finesse, snap and precision to entice trout.
