Single hooks for trout fishing

For swimming fish

Although we rarely find them on our swimming fish or our spoons, single hooks are increasingly used for trout fishing with lures. Faced with the increase in no kill watercourses, more and more fishermen are using this type of hook. Indeed, the single hook damage the fish significantly less. Moreover, it is very easy to unhook. With or without barb, it has become mandatory on a large number of watercourses in France. And the trout are doing all the better for this news!

However, a single hook does not mean more fish unhooked. If you choose a single hook of a size adapted to your bait, it will be just as effective as a triple hook.

For soft lures

The trout can also be fished with asoft lure. For this, it is necessary to use single hooks in the form of a lead head. The lead heads for trout fishing are light and thin in order to efficiently enter the mouth of the fish while preserving it.

We find various weights of lead heads to compensate for the more or less strong currents of all the rivers in France. Faced with the small size of soft lures for trout fishing, lead heads are often made from tungsten, a material denser than lead.

Triple hooks for trout fishing

These are the most used for fishing with the swimming bait. However, we see the use of triple hooks replaced by single hooks. Although their effectiveness is not in question (quite the contrary), these hooks have a tendency to damage the trout. This is why more and more fishing federations are banning its use on many rivers.

In trout Area and in private water bodies its use is also very regulated. However, triple hooks are still necessary for arming large swimming baits that do not have an equivalent in singles.
