The Evergreen Kaleido Serpenti The LL Carolina Special was designed to get the very best out of the Carolina rig with surgical precision. This highly specialised rod makes this rig more accessible, while maintaining the high standards expected of an exceptional model. From the very first casts, you can feel its ability to propel a small, lightweight worm a long way, reach deep areas and maintain complete control over the action, even when the rig becomes technical.
Designed at 7'6" with a 2-piece, centre-jointed construction, it is not just practical to transport: the material distribution is designed to separate the tip from the butt. The tip, made from low-elasticity carbon, with a high-resin content, provides remarkably fine lure action, clean passage through bottom obstacles and precise bite detection. The butt, made from high-elasticity carbon, with a low-resin content, delivers crisp feedback, real freedom during the cast and reassuring hook-setting power at long range. Together, they create a balanced combination of firmness and flexibility, ideal for feeling even the slightest movement of the rig.
The fully tubular blank, with no solid tip, promotes a fast tip action and makes it easier to release the cast despite the offset leader. The butt reinforcement, with 4-axis ±45° cross-ply (Kaleido Super Quattro), limits twisting and vibration, improves accuracy and helps increase casting distance. The SiC guides with titanium frames, smaller towards the tip and larger towards the butt, support a delicate release at the start of the cast, followed by distance on harder casts. The premium spigot joint preserves a smooth flex curve and transmits signals from the tip without loss.
At the water’s edge, this rod really comes into its own for black bass and smallmouth bass, in summer and autumn, when you need to work the bottom, target suspended fish or use a slow presentation. It is suitable for Carolina rig, Neko rig, No-sinker, Down shot rig and Jig head rig setups, and works especially well with 3-inch worms, I-shaped lures and finesse fishing situations where reading the bottom makes all the difference.
The handle completes the setup with a thick skeleton reel seat, a compact IPS reel seat, high-grade cork and a long, stable high-density EVA rear grip. The result is a natural hold, direct feedback and a balance designed for a long rod that is easy to control.
