The different types of swimming fish for pike

There are many different lures for pike. Among them, swimbaits form an equally large family. They are all very different but can be grouped into a family: swimbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits, lipless, propbaits, stickbaits...

All respond to a specific need or situation. Swimbaits are particularly popular at the start of the season. They swim slowly and are popular with pike that are tired from spawning and looking for food. Crankbaits, on the other hand, are very good prospecting lures. They can be brought in quickly and at different depths depending on the model you choose.

How do you choose them?

Like all lures, to choose the right one you need to analyse your biotope and the food available for pike. If you fish in environments where crayfish live in large numbers, it's a good idea to look for fish that swim close to the bottom and are dark or even red in colour. In this way, you can imitate as closely as possible the prey that pike like to eat. A can be just the thing. All you have to do is let it sink and pull it back with gentle tugs.

When bleak jump out of the water, being chased by some predator, jerkbaits or stickbaits are not to be ignored! With their elongated shape and bleak colouring, they're sure to get the job done.
