The Okuma Hakai DT casting reel (Low Profile) marks the arrival of a new era in reels designed for black bass fishing. It is the result of collaborative work with high-level fishermen around the world and is based on the latest technological advances of Okuma, providing exceptional balance between lightness, robustness, design, and price.
The reel frame is made of LITECAST® magnesium alloy, which gives it both very high corrosion resistance and a featherlight weight of only 167 g (5.9 oz), ensuring optimal fishing comfort even during long sessions.
You will benefit from two patented technologies: FLITE SPOOL™ and FLITE SHAFT™. The spool, with an outer diameter of 33 mm, has been finely calibrated by Dream Tackle Design for precise balance and weighs only 9.5 g (with its bearing), thus offering an extremely wide casting range. The hollow main shaft made of stainless steel SUS FLITE SHAFT™ is equipped with precision SUS balls at both ends. It guarantees an ideal compromise between lightness, strength and smooth rotation. These technologies allow the Hakai to confidently cast very light lures, starting at 3 g, even for beginner fishermen.
On the mechanical side, the reel incorporates an oversized 42 mm brass main gear, machined to ensure maximum strength and longevity.
The brake is also particularly efficient: it combines stainless steel discs and carbon washers (multi-disk hybrid system), offering a braking force of up to 9 kg (20 lbs). The C-40X star brake, made from injected carbon, provides great precision and flexibility in brake adjustment.
For more control when casting, the Hakai has an adjustable external magnetic control system, which allows fine adjustment of the spool's flight resistance. It is also equipped with a universal line diameter indicator, handy to always know what type of line is wound on the spool.
Finally, the 90 mm aluminum handle is fitted with a light EVA button, ensuring a comfortable and stable grip.
This reel comes in varied models depending on the ratio and recovery direction: for example, the HDT100-A (6.2:1), HDT100H-A (7.3:1), HDT100X-A (8.1:1), as well as left-handed versions and models with shallow spools.
It is mounted on 6 stainless steel bearings + 1 anti-reverse ball bearing, for smooth rotation and solid hook sets.
