A ratio adapted to pike

Like all species of fish, pike can be fished using a multitude of different techniques. Pike are powerful and fast fish, but they often take a long time to make up their minds before attacking their prey. Many anglers have seen a pike follow its lure to the boat or the bank.

To give your lure a better chance of being hooked and the pike more time to make up its mind, some casting reels have a slow ratio. This means your lure covers less distance per turn of the crank. This is a major advantage when fishing for sluggish and recalcitrant pike. On very large lures, these casting reels provide great fishing comfort by reducing the pulling effect when you reel.

A reel with a big drag

Big predators, big fights, big tackle. Pike are powerful predators. To fish them in the best possible conditions, make sure your tackle is adapted to their strength. Your rod, your line and your hooks must be chosen with care, but don't neglect the reel.

The reel must be capable of slowing down the p ike in the event of a rush through weed beds or dead wood. In this way, you can keep control of the fight to secure the fish and prevent them from getting stuck in an obstacle. To do this, make sure your rod and your line are also very strong to avoid breaking.
