The Shimano Antares DC embodies the brand's technological excellence in low profile casting reels. The result of advanced engineering, this reel aims to deliver exceptional casting distance whilst maintaining impeccable control, even under unfavorable wind conditions.
The reel incorporates the 4×8 DC braking system, controlled by a high-speed processor capable of real-time analysis of air resistance and the effects of wind on the lure. This electronic management instantaneously adjusts the braking force, limiting tangles and minimising coil rotation losses. The result: an optimal casting distance, whether for a full or lighter cast, with four adjustment modes (fluorocarbon, braid, nylon, extreme long distance) spread over eight intensity levels.
New on this model: the MGL Spool III reel (Magnum Light Spool), further refined and narrowed compared to previous generations. This reduced inertia allows for immediate rotation and a throw that retains its full range until the end of the trajectory, in perfect synergy with the 4×8 DC brake.
The S3D spool, machined using a rethought process, limits vibrations and play at the bearing level, for a more regular and quieter rotation. Combined with Silent Tune technology, which applies slight pressure on the spool bearings, this combination further reduces high-speed vibrations and improves manual braking responsiveness (sensing).
The reel includes an ultra-precise Micro Module Gear and X-Ship technology, strengthened by the addition of a second bearing at the crankshaft. This evolution reduces play and delivers an exceptionally smooth and precise recovery feel, regardless of the applied load. The reel body, designed with HAGANE Body technology, also ensures optimal rigidity to maintain gear alignment over time.
