Predator buzzbait

The buzzbait is one of the most popular surface lures for predators. Very noisy, it causes strong vibrations at the surface of the water thanks to a metal propeller located on a triangular frame similar to that of a spinnerbait. Very popular in summer, it will provoke aggressive attacks from pike, black bass and catfish.

The buzzbait, a reaction lure

The strong vibrations generated by the buzzbait can be felt at great distances by predators. Its metal propeller comes into direct contact with the water and is activated when you retrieve the lure. As it spins on the surface it creates bubbles like a frog or small animal swimming on the surface of the water.

The noise and flashes of light caused by the propeller are sure to provoke aggressive attacks from predators below the surface.

Like its cousin the spinnerbait, the buzzbait has a silicone skirt with a hook at the end of the frame. This skirt can be chosen in different colours to suit your needs and the different fishing spots. The skirt is also easy to spot visually by the predator.

Catfish, a predator sensitive to buzzbaits

Catfish are almost blind and are very sensitive to strong vibrations and noisy lures. The buzzbait is an ideal lure for this large predator thanks to its propeller and silicone skirt.

The buzzbait should be used close to obstacles where terrestrial prey such as rats or frogs may fall into the water. When these prey items fall into the water, they make a lot of noise on the surface and are spotted by predators such as catfish, pike or black bass. The buzzbait imitates this phenomenon perfectly, making it an excellent lure for predators that hunt from a position.
