When the sea gets rough, the squid jig Yamashita Egi OH K Shallow 3.0 really comes into its own. This slow-sinking version of the EGI-OH K 3.0 series is designed to maintain an effective presentation when wind, waves and strong currents make fishing for cephalopods more challenging.

Its profile retains the incredible stability of the EGI OH K series while allowing it to sink more slowly through the water column. With a sink rate of around 6 seconds per metre, it lets you work the lure more thoroughly in shallow water, when cuttlefish and squid call for a slower, more precise retrieve. This more gradual entry into the water column gives anglers a more subtle approach, ideal for keeping the lure in the holding zone without disturbing the fish.

This squid jig features 490Glow technology in its eyes, with phosphorescence designed to match the light spectrum most visible to cuttlefish and squid. It also features Hydro Fin technology: a small protrusion that greatly improves stability as the lure sinks through the water column. The tin weight beneath the chin has adjustment holes, allowing extra weight to be added so you can fine-tune the lure’s action to suit the conditions.

It is particularly suited to fishing in difficult conditions or during sessions when cephalopods are not very active. In shallow water, wind or current, its slow sink helps extend the time the lure spends in the strike zone and gives you control over every stage of the retrieve.
