The squid jig Yamashita Egi Oh K Super Shallow 3.0 is the perfect companion for tough sessions when cephalopods are being finicky. This super slow sinking version of the EGI OH K 3.0 is designed to sink even more slowly than the Shallow model, while retaining the stability for which the range is renowned.
In practice, this makes all the difference. When the wind is pushing, waves are shaking the line or currents are strong, its slow descent helps it hold its position in the water column and lets the lure work for longer in the strike zone. It is also a real advantage on days when cuttlefish and squid are less active, when every second counts and the presentation needs to remain natural.
The 490Glow technology gives the eyes a phosphorescence that matches the light spectrum most perceptible to cuttlefish and squid—a particularly useful detail when visibility is low. It is combined with Hydro Fin technology, a small protrusion that greatly improves stability as the lure sinks through the water column. It also features a tin weight beneath the throat, with adjustment holes to accommodate additional weight. This offers useful flexibility to adapt to the conditions and the behaviour of the cephalopods.
This squid jig is clearly aimed at anglers who want to persist in shallow water, keep in contact with a stable lure and present an Egi for longer in the right part of the water column. It comes into its own in tough conditions or when cuttlefish and squid are not very active, with a sinking speed of around 8 seconds per metre.
