When cuttlefish and squid are wary, the squid jig Yamashita Egi OH K Super Shallow 3.5 provides the discreet presence that often makes all the difference by the water. Designed for slow, precise fishing, this super slow sinking version is intended for situations where you need to let the lure work without spooking the fish.

This EGI OH K 3.5 SUPER SHALLOW retains the incredible stability of the EGI OH K range while offering an even slower sink rate than the Shallow model. At around 8 seconds per metre, it stays in the right water layer for longer, allowing you to extend the fishing zone and trigger a strike in the most challenging conditions. It’s a real advantage when wind, waves or strong currents make it difficult to keep the lure in position, or on days when cephalopods are less active.

The 490Glow and Hydro Fin technologies deliver a highly technical approach. 490Glow, with its eyes whose phosphorescence matches the light spectrum most visible to cuttlefish and squid, improves the lure’s visibility underwater. The Hydro Fin, a small protrusion, contributes significantly to stability as the lure sinks through the water, for a cleaner and more reassuring presentation. The tin weight beneath the throat, fitted with adjustment holes, can also accommodate an additional weight to suit the conditions.

On the water, this squid jig really comes into its own in shallow water, when conditions are difficult or when you need to keep working over and over at inactive fish. It is naturally suited to fishing for cuttlefish and squid, with a slow descent that gives you time to feel the slightest bite and fine-tune your retrieve.
