For sessions where you need to reach the right depth quickly, the squid jig Yamashita Egi Oh TR 3.0 is an impressively precise option for cephalopod fishing.
Developed for Tip Run fishing, this squid jig of the EGI OH TR 3.0 type was designed for deep-water fishing or situations where a fast, steady descent is needed. Its tin weight helps it get into action cleanly, while the specific shape of its body promotes a perfectly stable horizontal position in the water. This stability is a real advantage on the water: the squid jig behaves consistently on the descent, stays easier to track in the water column and maintains a presentation suited to catching cephalopods.
The design of its body, the shape of its weight and its unevenly sized hook baskets work together to provide fine balance and improved stability in the water. It also features the small Hydro Fin projection at the rear of the body, designed to provide good grip in the water and reduce the effect of line movement. In use, this helps it behave more steadily and consistently despite the stresses on the line.
The EGI-OH TR series also incorporates 490Glow technology, with phosphorescent eyes emitting light at a wavelength of around 490nm, as well as Warm Jacket technology, a coating designed to reproduce and retain for longer than traditional coatings the slight temperature difference between the water and the body of prey warmed by exposure to light. This approach aims to stimulate cephalopods' predatory instincts with a more convincing and attractive presentation.
In size 3.0, this squid jig is ideal for fishing for cuttlefish and squid from the shore. It is also well suited to fishing from a boat in shallow water or when cephalopods are swimming in the upper few metres. With a sinking rate of around 1.5 seconds per metre, it allows you to cover the water effectively and reach the target zone quickly.
