The different types of pallet

There are several different types of pallet on the market today:

• colorado
• willow
• propeller

Each type of vane brings its own set of vibrations and lights to the water. The colorado is shaped like a drop of water. It is rounder than its sister, the willow leaf. As a result, it displaces more water and has proved effective in tracking catfish. The willow, on the other hand, is thinner and more elongated and is more commonly used on pike and black bass.

As for the propeller, it is increasingly found on Shad Palettes. Initially used for buzzing fishing, its vibrations have proved effective when prospecting.

Swimming depths of the Shad Palette

The Shad Palette comes in different sizes, weights, colours and shapes. So you can find Shad Palettes that will fish the deepest layers of water as well as those on the surface.

Fishing brands have developed this lure to suit a wide range of conditions.

Biwaa the Divinator, for example, has been given a weed guard to make it easier to fish in deep, crowded water.

While Live Target has developed a surface lure with a colourado blade for effective surface fishing. Its hook is camouflaged to minimise the risk of bringing in weed.
