When conditions get challenging, the Yamashita Egi Oh K Shallow 4.0 really comes into its own. This squid jig from the EGI OH K range is designed to maintain a neat, consistent presentation when wind, waves or strong currents make fishing more difficult.

The Shallow version stands out for its slow sink rate of around 6 seconds per metre, a real advantage when fishing in shallow water or when cephalopods are less responsive. Its slow sinking action keeps the lure in the water column for longer, with a gradual descent that gives cuttlefish and squid time to spot and follow it.

This stability is down to Hydro Fin technology, a small protrusion that greatly improves the lure’s balance during the descent. It also features 490Glow technology, with eyes that glow in the light spectrum most visible to cuttlefish and squid: a technical detail that makes the lure more visible in low-activity conditions or reduced light.

The tin weight beneath the throat has adjustment holes for adding extra weight. This design offers plenty of scope to adapt to the conditions while retaining all the technical features of the EGI OH K range. In use, this squid jig remains stable and reassuring, helping you keep control of the lure when the water is moving and the fish are difficult to catch.
