Description

The Minn Kota on-board chargers are fixed and waterproof chargers that have been designed to stay in your boat during charging. This allows you not to have to remove your batteries from your boat to charge them.

They are completely autonomous during charging and recharge your lead batteries in 3 stages:

  • Stage 1, the start of charging: They recharge your batteries with a high amperage until they reach 75% charge (14.4 Vdc).
  • Stage 2, absorption: On their own, they reduce the voltage to 13.5Vdc to limit gas formation.
  • Stage 3, maintenance: Finally, they maintain the voltage between 13.2Vdc and 13.5Vdc and the amperage between 0.1 and 0.3amp to avoid any loss of battery autonomy.

Thus, your batteries can remain plugged into the mains continuously without risk of overheating or battery deterioration.

You will choose your charger model according to your installation.
For 2 12V batteries in series, choose a 2-output charger so that the charging of the 2 batteries is done evenly. In the same way, a 3-output charger for 3 12V batteries in series.

Depending on the amperage, 5 or 10 amp, your batteries will charge more or less quickly.
