The braid W3 8 strands in Smokey Grey color was designed for sea trout and saltwater fishermen looking for a superior quality braided line. This braid Westin benefits from an innovative construction for a braid that combines maximum strength and abrasion resistance with an extremely smooth surface.

It is made from Japanese quality ultra high molecule polyethylene (UHMPE) fibers, in 8 strands. The braid W3 Smokey Grey employs a construction with 32 braids per inch, thus offering a smoother surface and better abrasion resistance. Sea trout and saltwater fishermen require a line with additional stiffness to avoid wind knots, caused by repeated casting against often violent coastal winds. To achieve this, the W3 Smokey Grey is equipped with a double Dura-Coating coating that strengthens the rigidity of the line.

The Dura-Coating gel process gives the braid a smoother and hydrophobic surface, reducing water absorption and decreasing friction. In order to achieve maximum color stability, the W3 Smokey Grey is immersed in dye tanks before being baked in the oven to 'fix' the pigment, and finally sealed by a double gel-coat for increased longevity.
