The Poppy is part of the new range of Delalande lures and innovates thanks to its brand new floating material. This popper has been designed to meet a well-known problem among predatory fishers: reaching the most challenging spots without sacrificing the efficiency of a surface action. Its modern design makes it a technical lure, cut out for situations where precision and discretion make all the difference.
Thanks to its floating material and its studied shape, the Poppy is easy to skip. This technique involves bouncing the lure off the water to land it under low-hanging branches, piers, or any other overhanging obstacle. Predators, black-bass and pike in particular, like to position themselves in the shadow of these structures and often show more receptivity to a lure that arrives discreetly by ricochet rather than by a regular cast. The Poppy thus allows for catching fish commonly inaccessible with other types of surface lures.
Compatible with a Texas rig, the Poppy can be hidden hook inside the bait body, which drastically reduces snagging. This characteristic allows access to the most cluttered areas: dense weeds, piles of branches, sunken structures. Thus, the angler can explore high potential spots that most other surface lures do not allow to approach confidently, without spending his time unsticking his lure from obstacles.
The cylindrical shape of the Poppy is not just aesthetic: it plays a direct role in the effectiveness of the action. By pulling sharply on the rod, it generates a characteristic POP sound, produced by the front cavity of the lure that drives out water and air at the time of movement. This sound, combined with the splashes it causes, mimics the distress of a surface fish and triggers the predatory instinct of the predators on the lookout, even in reduced visibility or slightly tinted water.
The Poppy is equipped with a tail, which enhances its effectiveness in two areas. On the one hand, it stabilizes the lure in the water, limiting parasitic movements during the action and ensuring a consistent trajectory from one POP to another. On the other hand, it brings an extra touch of realism by giving the lure a silhouette and behavior closer to those of a natural prey, a detail that can turn a hesitant hit into a frank attack.
The Poppy is available in two distinct sizes, allowing the angler to adjust his choice depending on the fishing situation:
This double size allows to adapt the fishing strategy according to the season, fishing pressure or the target predator's profile, making the Poppy a surface lure that's as technical as it's versatile to explore cluttered areas efficiently.
