The Garbolino Streamline drilled pear float is born from a thoughtful cross between two great families of trout floats: the elongated silhouette of the Toulousain and the balance in a vein of water of the Niçoise ball. The result is an intermediate profile — conical, regular, tapered — which combines the qualities of the two references without reproducing their limits. This new model naturally completes the family of trout floats within the Garbolino Streamline range, a collection entirely dedicated to trout fishing in all its forms and under all conditions.
The elongated and conical silhouette of the drilled pear float is not by chance. This regular geometry reduces drag, limits the effects of uncontrolled drift and keeps the rig in the fishing axis even in sustained water veins. Where a float that is too stocky detaches or lays down under the pressure of the current, this profile remains stable, vertical and readable — an essential quality for detecting bites in demanding hydraulic conditions.
The raw material of this float is reconstituted cork from Portugal, deliberately chosen as an alternative to natural cork. This design decision meets several simultaneous requirements.
Reconstituted cork offers a perfectly smooth and homogeneous surface, without porosities or irregularities in structure. This surface regularity reduces water absorption, improves durability over time and guarantees a controlled and constant density from one float to another — a determining factor for the reproducibility of rigging.
The central stem is made of bamboo. The fibrous structure characteristic of bamboo gives it two qualities rarely found in the same material: a natural straightness that guarantees a clean swim and a high mechanical resistance to the constraints of rigging and shocks in the river. Unlike synthetic stems, bamboo has an additional often overlooked advantage: if lost in a river, this entirely natural material decomposes in a few months, without leaving any persistent plastic residue in the environment.
The float is offered in two orange and fluorescent yellow combinations, selected for their visual efficiency in real fishing conditions. These two shades are among the most perceptible to the human eye at short and medium distances, whether in broad light, under a cloudy sky or in the shifting reflections of a river. Reading the float's behaviour — and thus detecting the slightest bite — should remain possible without prolonged concentration effort.
This float is handcrafted in Europe, a choice that is directly felt in use.
In the drilled version, this float is designed for fixed rigs, i.e., the configurations where the float does not need to be removed or repositioned on the line during a session. The line passes directly through the central stem, ensuring clean guidance and a compact rig, without any additional accessory.
