Included in the new Delalande collection, the Poppy stands out with a completely novel floating material. This popper was developed to overcome a recurring challenge for predatory fish anglers: to manage reaching the most cluttered spots without compromising the quality of surface animation. Its contemporary design makes it a precision lure, saved for the moments where every detail of precision and discretion counts.
The floating material combined with a molded shape makes the Poppy particularly easy to skip, this technique where the lure bounces on the water to slip under low-lying branches, a pier, or any other overhanging structure. Black bass and pike particularly favor these shaded areas, and are often more tempted by a lure that delicately bounces in rather than a classic presentation. The Poppy thus provides access to fish that the majority of surface lures cannot reach.
The Poppy accepts Texas rigging, with the hook hidden inside the lure's body, significantly reducing snags. This compatibility makes even the most cluttered areas accessible: dense weed beds, tangled branches, submerged structures. Giving the chance to explore high potential areas that other surface lures usually force you to go around, without increasing the number of unhooks on obstacles.
Far from being a simple aesthetic choice, the cylindrical shape of the Poppy directly conditions the effectiveness of its animation. A quick rod stroke is enough to produce the famous POP sound, generated by the cavity at the front of the lure that expels water and air when moved. Combined with the splashes it creates, this sound reproduces the distress signals of a fish on the surface and triggers the predation reflex of lurking predatory fish, even when visibility decreases or the water gets slightly murky.
The tail of the Poppy has a dual function. It first ensures better stability in the water, avoiding off-course deviations during the animation and ensuring consistency from one POP to another. It enhances the realism of the lure, giving it a closer look and behavior of live prey, an element that can be enough to transform a hesitant touch into a decisive attack.
The Poppy comes in two sizes, offering the angler the choice to adapt according to the current conditions:
These two sizes allow for an adjustment in strategy according to the season, fishing pressure or the profile of the targeted predatory fish, making the Poppy both a technical and versatile surface lure for efficiently exploring cluttered zones.
