Soft lures

Fishing with soft lures has evolved significantly in recent years. As a result, numerous fishing techniques have been developed to address fish caution.

The growth of this practice is linked to the expansion of the catalog of lures available on the current market. Thanks to its success, it has benefited from the democratization of plastic, offering low-cost solutions and thus becoming an essential tool for fishing. Sold individually or in soft lure kits, you will have plenty of choice.

Mounted on a lead head, these little pieces of rubber come in many different shapes. You will find models that try to resemble existing prey, like the black minnow Offshore, a soft lure Fiiish or the Delalande soft lure weapon Néo.

The manufacturers also offer models that only worry about the vibrations emitted in the water like the megabass x layer or Delalande soft lure. You will also find models soaked in attractant, which stimulate the olfactory sense, like the soft lure Sawamura. Finally, you can rely on weighted soft lures like the Savage gear Rattle Trout, Savage Gear 4D Rattle, Fiiish double combo or the soft lure Daiwa spintail which will allow you to be in action quickly.

Depending on the species of fish or the environments you are looking for once on the water's edge, it will be essential to make the right choice to allow you to be effective.

Dozens of soft lure brands

The democratization of the manufacture of soft lures has allowed many brands to access design and production. Today, it is rare not to find a brand or a sub-brand of a group offering some models or even a whole series of products. However, there are some differences depending on the areas in which they are designed.

In Japan, you can rely on a technical aspect of product development. Very concerned with efficiency and the environment, the Japanese have a preference for paying a certain price and benefiting from high quality. Brands like Deps, OSP, Megabass or Reins soft lures delight all Japanese anglers with original versions and real research applied to actions and swimming. We can also mention Sawamura soft lures known for their formidable efficiency.

On the other side of the Atlantic, we find the United States which have a vision almost diametrically opposed. The lure is thus a consumable. It is necessary that the packets are well supplied to interest these fishermen.

There is less technicality in the design, but formidable efficiency. The know-how in terms of action and swimming is truly unique. We fish with Yum, Lunker City or even Bass Assassin everywhere around the planet.

Europeans are not to be outdone. Svartzonker or Delalande with its soft lure kits have perfectly adapted to the fish present in our waters. From perch to catfish, through bass and pike, both resistant and technical lures are available to all predator anglers. You can also turn to a Savage gear soft lure for the carnivorous fish pursuit, notably the savage gear 4D Rattle or the savage gear rattle trout.

Shad or Swimbait type Lures

These lure profiles are characterized by a tail which counters the water currents, called the paddle. This will produce a more or less pronounced swaying effect from the tail, right and left. The displacement of water this produces will generate vibrations that will attract predators.

In the same way, this paddle, depending on its shape, will induce more or less rolling. It is the combination of these different swimming actions that will define the shad lure for carnivorous fishing. We can mention the Black Minnow off shore, a soft lure fiiish or the One Up Shad, soft lure Sawamura.

For its animation, you will have several options available to you. You can simply pull it back linearly, trying to make it evolve at different depths. You will try to get close to the bottom or structures to go looking for fish close or buried inside.

You can also animate it with large pulls up and let the rig drop to the bottom. You will then need to keep your line always tight during the descent phase. It is almost always at that moment that the strike will occur.

Finally, you can also take advantage of the flexibility of some gums to use them in vertical practice.

Trouts and Black Bass with Insect and Creature Lure

The variety of models offered in this group is very large. There is not, strictly speaking, a defined shape or concept. Fishing with an insect and creature lure opens up the possibility of tracking many fish, perch and trout for example. The insects will imitate beetles, grasshoppers, large flies or dragonflies.

Anything you can come across at the edge of the water can be a source of inspiration. The same applies to creatures. Black Bass are generally opportunistic fish that are able to feed with varied prey, often far from what we can imagine.

The majority of the insects we offer will tend to animate on the surface. Indeed, the principle is to imagine a fall into the water and the inability of the bug to fly back. You will then try to reproduce these vibrations and let your line move or not along the current or the wind. A floating lead head will be almost indispensable.

Creatures can be animated in many ways. Mounted in Texan or wacky, there are really no limits to your imagination. Salamanders, leeches, tetrapods... the main thing is to be as natural as possible and arouse the interest of the sought-after fish. The Dong Path, Megabass soft lure is one of them.

The frog or frog, the essential lure

If there is one lure you should not miss, it is the imitation of a frog. You will target mainly the black bass and pike, but the enjoyment found in the animation and the attacks makes it worth limiting yourself to these species from time to time.

There will mainly be two main types of frogs. Those molded and full ones that have legs that end in a paddle or grubs.

They are intended for a linear practice. The second model has a hollow body and a double hook that perfectly fits the shape of it. It is used for animation on the surface, often in dense vegetal zones.

We will animate the first model somewhat in the manner of a shad when it is weighted. It can also be brought back to the surface of the water on a Texan hook and take advantage of the buzzing it performs on the surface. The hollow version, on the other hand, will only be animated in linear recovery on the surface. Do not hesitate to take breaks, sometimes long ones, to register as many touches as possible.

Slender or Longiform, the Worms Lure Shape

It is often the base of the diet of predators. The worms lures are thus essential for fishing perch, black bass but also zander and catfish. We have all fished one day with these baits that we used to find in a chunk of earth.

Long and thin, they all more or less look alike. Yet, the brands have raised its design to a grade above average, a proof of its angling interest.

The types of mounts and animations will be ultra varied. A Worm can be mounted in dozens of different ways. And it will always have a formidable efficiency. It will be able to adapt as well to slow fishing, as well as to fast ones.

It will swim near the surface, or then on the bottom. Wacky, Texan, jig head, stand up .... It knows how to do everything. We could mention the Pivot, Megabass soft lure.

The other types of soft lures

As we mentioned at the beginning, the brands have seized the concept of soft lure and have declined it to almost infinity. This is how we will find models that do not belong to these large categories detailed above. We are thinking of Shad palette lures which have a real efficiency and above all an easy handle. All fishers are likely to catch fish quickly with this lure.

We also think of lobster lures which are an important staple of some species. Their different shapes and animation solutions make it a lure of choice for the search for black bass or perch.

Finally, the minnow, or finesse, are models not to neglect. Comfortable in both seawater and freshwater, their small vibrations are sometimes one of the solutions to get difficult or regularly fished species to react. We think particularly of the Megabass X Layer, a reference for bar tracking.

You will finally be able to choose Soft Lure Kits that combine different shapes and sizes for discovery. This will be the opportunity to turn to several techniques and form an opinion.
