Treble hooks, the classic tackle hard bait

Triple hooks are most commonly found on swimming fish. Although these are increasingly being replaced by single hooks, they still have their place in your fishing tackle. On spoons, swimfish, poppers, stickbaits and other hard lures, the treble hook is the most common.

On swimbaits designed for trout fishing, treble hooks are thinner so that they penetrate the fish's mouth more easily. What's more, a fine-iron hook has less impact on the mouth of a small fish, so it's preferable.

When fishing for pike or black bass, strong iron treble hooks are more commonly used to resist the force of the fish.

Triple hooks, ideal for rigs

Triple hooks are still the simplest and most effective way of rigging your large, flexible pike lures. You'll find them on shallow rigs or stingers in conjunction with a jig head or a screw-on head.

In addition, the 3 points of the treble hook allow you to spread out the points of the catch and thus avoid tearing the fish's mouth.

However, make sure these hooks are the right size to avoid damaging the fish with a treble hook that could poke itself in the eye.
